Aloo Posto

Aloo Posto is a simple recipe of Bengal, India. It goes well with plain rice and dal. It is tasty, healthy and easy to digest.

 
Indredients:
 
  1. Potato medium size: 2 Nos.
  2. Posto (Poppy Seed) paste: 2 tbs
  3. Ridge Gourd (optional): 1 No.
  4. Onion small (chopped): 1 No.
  5. Green Chili: 2 Nos.
  6. Refined oil: 2 tbs
  7. Salt to taste.
 
Procedure:
  1. Heat oil in a wok.
  2. Add chopped onions, fry lightly.
  3. Add the potatos, fry with onions for two minutes.
  4. Add posto paste, reduce heat, mix well with potatoes, stirring cotineously.
  5. Add little warm water, cotinue stirring on low heat for 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add 1 cup of warm water and add salt to taste. 
  7. Pressure cook for 5 minutes or till potatos are tender.
  8. Take out the aloo posto from cooker, when the pressure is released.
  9. Evaporate the moisture.
  10. Decorate the dish with green chilies.
  11. Ridge gourd may be added, dice the ridge gourd and cook with potatos.
 
Cook's tips:
  1. When you paste the posto, keep them a little grainy which will make the dish crispy.
  2. Do not fry posto paste on high flame.
  3. Keep adding warm water while cooking posto and potato, to avoid sticking to wok.
  4. While making paste, add a little salt and green chili and paste them with posto.
